On Sunday May 6, 201 84for32 hoops hosted the Fifth Reebok Headliner Tryouts at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg Florida. The Headliner camp purpose is to have some of the best talent in the state competing for an opportunity to compete against some of the best talent in the nation at Reebok University.

With some of the top players in the nation coming from the state of Florida the past few years, the spotlight on Florida Boys Basketball has been shining brighter then ever. With the rest of the nation starting to realize the talent that the state has, now more than ever the state has seen a revolving door of college recruiters looking for the next great player.

This past weekend, 84 for 32 Hoops in injunction with Reebok hosted their third Reebok Headliner camp in Jacksonville Florida. The camp is designed to showcase some of the top underclassmen in the state, and it gives an opportunity for the top players of the camp to compete at Reebok University.

In 2007, the Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge changed the course of history for John Wall. This summer, Reebok and John Wall are re-launching the Reebok Basketball Breakout Challenge to give deserving basketball players the chance to change their destiny as well. Starting Sunday May 15, 2011 in Jacksonville Florida.

Held each year in Orlando at Jones High School, FloridaProspects.com brings together teams from Central Florida and matches them against some of the best teams in the state. Robert Sumpter and his staff do a very good job and this year was no exception.

Over the Thanksgiving Holidays, one of the premier basketball events of the season will take place at Wekiva High School. Over a 2-day period, 15 games will pit Orlando Metro schools against some of the finest competition from around the state of Florida putting Orlando-Metro pride on the line.

This week has seen major movements in committments to colleges around the state. Two of Florida's potential five star players made their decision to which college they will attend.

The most sought after basketball recruit of the 2011 basketball class is Winter Park's Austin Rivers. Today Rivers announce where he would be taking his services.

Last year, Jacksonville First Coast had its best ever year in boys basketball. The team reached new heights in wins and almost made it to the final four. With several players returning, the Buccaneers, are poised to make another run. Their success this year will be keyed by the play of rising senior Ambrose Mosley.

Heart, Courage, Determination. Those are three words that you want from an athlete. Those three words signifies that a player will give everything he has for his coach and team. Those three words describes Wekiva High guard/forward Cornell Gunter.

Going into the 2009 season Wekiva guard D’Andre Bullard was a relatively unknown prospect. Unlike many of the top players in his area, Bullard didn’t have any Varsity experience and wasn’t expected to play a major role. But with a solid junior campaign and an excellent summer, Bullard has proven that he is one of the better players in the Central Florida area.

About two years ago I wrote on a blog about a Golden Era of Boys Basketball talking about some of the top talent in the state has. In that blog we mention many players including former Gator Basketball player Nick Calathes, current Gator players Kenny Boynton, and Chandler Parsons.

Built as the most anticipated finals match-up in the championship brackets, the Jacksonville Arlington Country Day Apaches played against the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors for the1A state championship. With seven state championships between the two teams over the past seven years, the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors were able to hold off a late charge by ACD to win the 1A state title.

The 2010 boys basketball state championships started Wednesday in Lakeland. Here is the recap of the Class 1A semifinals.

Saturday night’s game between St. Petersburg Lakewood and Ft. Myers Green Wave was built as the top match-up in the Tampa Bay Area. With both teams vying for a spot in the state’s final four, the game lived up to its billing.

Playing in front of a capacity crowd of close to 2000 people, which included Duke University Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski, Winter Park junior guard Austin Rivers put on a scoring exhibition leading his team to a 83-60 victory over Winter Springs.

Jacksonville Arlington Country Day Forward John Brown is your basic case of Rags to Riches story. A relatively unknown player coming into his junior year, Brown has become one of the best players in the state and is a major reason why many feel Jacksonville ACD will win their sixth consecutive state title.

Winter Springs basketball program has been one of the most dominant programs in the Central Florida area over the past four years. With three district titles and four playoff appearances, the Bears are one of the favorites to contend for a state title this year. One big reason for their success has been the play of senior forward Luis Jacobo.

The Third Annual Dante Anderson Invitational at Gainesville Eastside High School on Saturday January 2, 2010, is loaded with a talented field of some of the top teams in the state.
