Every Wednesday during the football year, Florida Prospects showcase an athlete who may not be known throughout the state, but could easily be a Division One athlete. Today we showcase Jacksonville Mandarin Quarterback Percy Freeman.

Freeman has all the intangibles that you look for and need in a quarterback. Standing 6-3 195lbs, Percy has the height, arm strength, and the knowledge to become a nice player on the next level. He's pretty strong for a quarterback with a bench of over 265lbs. He can make all the throws, and he understands defensive coverage’s.

"I'm a passionate player who looks to manage the game, and get my team in the end zone” said Freeman. " My arm strength, pocket presence, and footwork all ties in with the timing of our offense. So I pay close attention to details when coach Hall is putting together our game plan. He makes sure my drop steps are correct, and that I'm doing the little things to be successful to help lead my team to a win. "

Percy has also gained a lot of knowledge about playing the quarterback position while sitting behind Kellen Lewis '04(Indiana) who has moved on to college and now starts for the Hoosiers.

"Kellen still calls me and shares some things with me about football on the next level. We also talk about staying focus on game-winning drives and he just gives me all around good advice, which I'm very appreciative. Said Freeman."

Freeman shows leadership on and off the field and compares his game to Daunte Culpepper. He has no clear offers as of
yet, but he's making strides in turning some heads.

"I'm looking for a school with a good graduation rate, great atmosphere, and top notch coaches who really care. “I want to be the first to attend college and graduate in my family, because most of my family are military and from Virginia." Freeman said.

Freeman’s grade point average is a 2.5 and has already qualified academically.

So far he has led Mandarin to a 5-1 record and hopes on leading the Mustangs right back to the playoffs. Some thing the Mustangs haven't accomplished since 2004.

Florida Prospects will keep an eye out for Percy Freeman as he continues his march towards the playoffs and will keep you posted on his college decision.
