Every Wednesday during the football year, Florida Prospects showcase an athlete who may not be known throughout the state, but could easily be a Division One athlete. Today we showcase Immokalee star athlete Brian Rolle.
Brian Rolle is special player who sometimes gets overlooked because of where he is playing but equally has all the skills of his peers. Standing 5-11, 216lbs, Rolle's 4.4 dash along with 385lbs of bench pressing ability makes him a stud of a recruit for Immokalee high.
“A lot of people compare me to Buster Davis when I'm on defense because of the way I flow to the ball.” Rolle said. “I like playing defense, but I can also turn around and rush the ball for my team. I'm a pretty versatile football player. "
“Rolle is a versatile player that plays both linebacker/running back and brings leadership, intensity, and character to his team. Although he leads his team in rushing, he is a true linebacker on the next level. He has great instincts on the field and his speed and quickness makes him one of the best players in the state.” Florida Prospects Football Analyst Robert Sumpter said.
“By me playing both sides of the ball it gives me a slight advantage. I know where the running back wants to go, and I think that I'm the fastest at my position getting to the ball carrier.” Rolle said.
Last year, Rolle had an outstanding year for the Indians. In only nine games, Rolle had 568-yards rushing, 110 -yards receiving eight touchdowns on offense. On defense, he led the team with 120 tackles.
This year, Rolle has already rushed for 537 yards and has nine offensive touchdowns and on defense, he’s averaging over 12 tackles a game. His play is one of the main reasons why Immokalee has given up on 14 points on the season and is considered one of the best teams in Southwest Florida.
Currently, Brian has over 35 offers from colleges across the nation. The list of schools showing interest includes many major Division One schools such as: Ohio State, Florida, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and LSU to name a few.
“I'm looking for a school with a great coaching staff and has a good graduation rate of their players. I plan on majoring in business so I would like the school to have a good business program as well.” Rolle said.
Last year, Immokalee had to forfeit all of their games because they’re team had a player who was 27 years of age playing on the field.
“The controversy of our team having an illegal player last year has made us closer as a unit.” Rolle said. “I know I could've transferred out and just ran away from the situation, but I love playing for my coach, and I've played the last three years for him, so one more year isn't that big of a deal. We know we can’t go to the playoffs and we understand the whole ordeal, but we are motivated to possibly finish the season undefeated and show that we are the best team in our area and one of the best teams in the state.”
Florida Prospects will keep posted on his college decision and the rest of Rolle's season.
